Problem Pumps: Your Biggest Challenges Solved

Every manufacturing company has a pump or several pumps that cause unusual problems. Whether it concerns cavitation, mechanical seals that continuously fail, failure to achieve the required flow/pressure or pumps that fail due to a challenging medium.

We can say from experience that this is almost always caused by incorrect pump selection. Let us solve your biggest pumping challenges and problems on a no cure no pay basis.

Look beyond the pump

Often the pump seems to be the bottleneck, without considering the influence of all relevant process conditions. To ensure that a pump is operating at its best efficiency point (BEP), factors such as suction and discharge conditions, valve control, media properties and operating temperatures must be considered.

Due to the almost infinite choice between pump types and versions, selecting the optimal pump can be a major challenge. Do you recognize this challenge? Let our engineers perform a pump audit.

Pump audits: our approach

Do you have pumps that require extra attention due to malfunctions and high maintenance costs? Our engineers will visit you for a pump audit. Together with your operator, we determine the cause of the problem based on your input, observing process conditions and pump measurements with smart sensors. You will then receive a report with concrete advice on pump selection, energy saving and maintenance.

Important process conditions affecting pump performance

  • NPSH (required suction pressure): if the pressure on the suction side of the pump is too low, there is a risk of vapor lock formation. If the pressure then increases, these bubbles will implode (cavitation).
  • Valve control: sudden valve closures can cause high pressure peaks to 'bounce back' to the pump, potentially causing damage to the pump, piping and other components.
  • Alignment: misalignment of the suction and/or discharge piping relative to the pump flanges will lead to excessive strain on piping.
  • Medium properties: the viscosity, abrasiveness, chemical properties, solids and structure of the pumped medium have a strong influence on the operation of the pump.
  • Temperature: the operating temperature of the medium and the rate at which the temperature changes also affect pump performance.
  • And more!
